Separation and Coming Together Topic Discussion – January
January 22, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
In January our focus will be different kinds of separation in families. We’ll be examining these 4 common ways families are separated: military service, adoption, illness, and prison. Read all or one or two of these resources which include short stories, video clips and a book. We will gather and discuss them. You are welcome to join us even if you have not consumed the media. Snacks will be available.
Military – Video clips of movies to watch
Prison – After January 9, we will have a small packet available with essays, stories or poems written by people in prison and struggle to stay connected to family.
Family fractures that result in adoption – Pastor Sally, in partnership with Gayle Swift wrote a book called “Reimagining Adoption: What Adoptees Seek from Families and Faith”. Pastor Sally has copies available for reading, and it is available on Amazon if you would like to purchase the book.
